Laura’s Story Part 1

If you have ever struggled with back pain than you will relate to this story.

I was recently hired to shoot a story for one of our clients about a women in Virginia Beach that was struggling with back pain.

The client is Barricaid. They pioneered a medical device that prevents re-herniation in patients that have herniated or ruptured a disk in their back. It’s honestly an amazing product.

I’ve shot a few testimonials for them and they are powerful stories for their audience, but this story was not a success story, it was a story about loss, pain, and frustration.

Laura was an active triathlete, runner, and mother.

She had herniated a disk while helping a neighbor with some lawn care.

She had surgery on her back but was denied the use of the Barricaid device due to insurance not covering it.

Barricaid wanted to tell her story to try and push insurance companies to cover the device and procedure.

This was not going to be happy story. It was going to be painful story.

Luckily Laura was great to work with and very open about her story and situation.
